CECI Uganda’s new office nears completion on our own land
We’re happy to share with you that CECI Uganda’s new office building is almost complete. It sits on our own land measuring 30 by 45 meters in Nyagilia, Koboko, and we’ve started working on a wall fence to secure it.
This office will provide a better space for our team to work, offer our female staff a safe space, and serve as the permanent home of CECI Uganda. It means more of our budget can go to programs serving the communities we work in, not rent. The UGX 9,726,000/- that we used to spend yearly on rent will now go straight to serving the refugee communities we work with.
Since May 2017, when CECI began, we’ve made every effort to invest in the sustainability of not just our programs but the organization itself. The result of these efforts is the ownership of our land, office, car, tricycle, nine motorbikes, and other assets, which have allowed us to bring life-saving interventions to hard-to-reach areas.
This new building cuts costs and provides us with a stable home, and with it, our programs and impact will grow stronger.
It will enable us to empower refugee youth, women, and girls more effectively in preventing violent conflicts, building resilience, and rebuilding their livelihoods. It will also help us to deliver our 5-year strategic plan to empower 500,000 people by 2029 through support for education, improving food security and livelihoods, building peace, protecting the environment, and expanding access to clean energy.
Seeing our office take shape reminds us of the power of localization in helping empower refugee-led organizations, such as CECI, to achieve greater sustainability.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone of you who contributed to this — our staff, board, partners, donors, builders, and community. You made this possible. A big THANK YOU from all of us at CECI Uganda!
We look forward to welcoming you to CECI Uganda’s new home very soon.
